Forgiveness For All

Forgiveness For All

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32

I believe the hardest part of humanity is coming to the truthful realization of our evil and humbly confessing our helplessness. The bible is clear that there are no pointing fingers; we have all participated in the madness of our world. Romans 3:23 says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” After reading a verse like that I think it’s healthy to sit there for a little. The prisoner will never appreciate his freedom until he ponders his chains.⠀

The gospel of Jesus is good news because of what God actually saved us from. He saved us from ourselves. Ezekiel 36:26 says, “And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” This is the power of salvation and transformation… a new heart. This is how we are even capable of being “kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another” because “God in Christ forgave you.” We can come to him with nothing to offer and He gives us Himself. When we experience grace and forgiveness from our heavenly Father, He gives us the power to live graciously and forgive as well.
