He Gives Us The Victory

He Gives Us The Victory

"But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 15:57

From the beginning of mankind, the Bible shows examples of sin in our world. How humans were created for a perfect relationship with God the Father, but we chose another path... all of us. We chose a life of self-seeking, self-honoring, self-glorifying, which always ends in hurt relationships, lying to cover up our image, sometimes turning towards addictions that mask themselves as beautiful but are actually destructive, and in all this, we put God our Creator far from our hearts.⠀
⠀
If by God's grace you're still reading this, I get it, not a fun topic to talk about with your buddies while you're catching up at the bar or a conversation to have with a coworker on your lunch break. But the story doesn't end there. It actually gets better than we could ever imagine.⠀
⠀
The Bible says that the payment for sin is death. And we all, unfortunately, know death. It is predicted that this year alone 60.2 million people will die in our world. But God, he rewrites this story. We could never save ourselves from death, so God Himself had to save us from our fate. God Himself left the perfection of heaven to live among us through the man of Jesus. He was tempted just as we are tempted and suffered just as we have suffered, to be in our mess and love us still. Jesus was and still is the sinless Savior foretold hundreds of years before His birth. He willingly took on the sins of the world as he was mocked, spat on and executed by those he loved. After 3 days dead in a tomb, God raised Jesus to life displaying his power over death itself. What Jesus accomplished became a promise of grace that whoever places their trust in him through faith will receive new life now and in the life to come. Nothing we do could ever earn such a gift! Again, God lavishes his love on all by grace through simple faith in the finished work of Jesus. What a gift we have in Him, a gift of victory!
